Rebecca Chalkley KC is a senior barrister and King’s Counsel specialising in financial crime, insolvency, regulatory investigations, and compliance. Ranked in legal directories for Financial Crime and International Investigations, she advises global businesses, professional firms and high net worth individuals on complex regulatory and enforcement matters.
Rebecca’s expertise includes bribery and corruption, corporate governance, director disqualification, civil recovery, deferred prosecution agreements, and matters under the Proceeds of Crime Act. She regularly engages with regulators including the SFO, DOJ, FCA, and the Insolvency Service.
She previously served as Standing Counsel to the Department for Business and the Insolvency Service and held a position on the SFO’s Prosecution Panel (A List). She co-authored the SFO’s Altman Review into the SERCO trial and played a key role in the Rolls-Royce investigation, which resulted in a landmark Deferred Prosecution Agreement. In 2022, she successfully prosecuted Boris Becker for offences under the Insolvency Act.
Rebecca is a Visiting Professor of Practice at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and serves on the LexisNexis Corporate Crime Editorial Board. She has been recognised in Who’s Who Legal and named Times Lawyer of the Week (2022) and one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100 (2023).
